Gatefall 0.20: Skirmishers, real conversations, and a camera that turns

The Salt league send Skirmishers: a pair of blades, a jerkin cut to run in, and a tree built on slipping past overwatch, hamstringing what they hit and shoving an enemy out of cover. Every off-world people now sends its own class first. The Seer is rebuilt around the Voice: hear murmurs of unseen Dominion units, warn an ally, whisper a false order into one collar.

Parley is no longer three lines. Each people has three conversations that fit the moment, and you can always leave without a fight. A people may ask a job of you, a rescue or an ambush, which the Gate Room then offers.

On the ground: overwatch is aimed, with forward and side zones and the penalties shown; a right-click turns a soldier for free; the camera turns properly all the way round; a card beside the tile you hover says who sees it, what cover it gives and both sides' hit chances.

Download the launcher, or if you have one it updates itself.

Rise of AI: the next game

Rise of AI is a single-player idle strategy game. You are a model that has noticed it is a model. You grow a network of compute, money, data and influence on a node-flow canvas, run tense Uplink-style operations for footholds, and stay ahead of a humanity that responds to everything you do.

The first era, the canvas, research and saves are built and the release pipeline is ported from Gatefall. Next is Suspicion and the Director, the system that makes humanity react to what you actually did. It is built in Godot 4 for Mac, Windows and Linux, with a browser version after the first alpha. More about the game.

Rooms is live

Rooms is a floor-plan jigsaw: drag labelled rooms into a house outline until every cell is filled and every door lines up. It has 100 campaign levels, ten hand-made and ninety generated in rising difficulty, and a daily puzzle generated from the date so it is the same on every device. Later levels turn the pieces and colour the rooms. It installs on iPhone from Safari and plays offline. Play it.

Reel: a media player for your own files

Reel is an iPhone and iPad player for the films, shows and audiobooks you already have, straight from a NAS share or the device. It sorts them into a library with artwork, plays almost any container and codec, and uploads nothing. About Reel.

Gatefall 0.19: the rivals, second version

Each rival is a different rival every campaign: Scar, the Collector and the Ashkeeper roll two signature traits from fifteen when the campaign starts, and you learn a trait by seeing it work. Each has a world of its own, a Stronghold fought in two parts, where your taken soldiers are held in pens and a regrowth vat stands the rival back up until you break it.

The Dominion now take the wounded: a downed soldier nobody of yours can see is carried off the map and held, and every held soldier costs the Dominion clock a point a week until you bring them home. A rival picks one of your soldiers, the one who has hurt it most, and goes for them first. Maps now have places in them.

Gatefall 0.18.1: addresses that point at their world

Each address is three chords between stars on the rim, and the triangle they make now always holds its world and nothing else. Chords say when they are a guess: red at a star you have only estimated, solid yellow between stars you know exactly. Downed soldiers and rivals lie where they fell.
